About This Site

Providing Urban Leaders Success in Education, or PULSE, believes that every student deserves a second chance. At this small, alternative high school, there are no Regents requirements or minimum credits for admission. Students ages 17–21 study four core subjects in 80-minute periods each day earning up to 22 credits per year. A rigorous academic schedule and strong support services are the key to helping previously disengaged students graduate and aim for college. “We make sure that every student leaves with a plan,” Youth Advocate Jamal White told us at the Department of Education’s Alternative Ways to Graduate Fair.
